Air Kasthamandap Plane Crash Lands in Kalikot

February 26, 2016 – Nepalgunj

An Air Kasthamandap plane flying to Jumla from Nepalgunj has crash landed in Kalikot district. The Kathmandu Post reports that both the pilot and the co-pilot are amongst the two souls killed in the crash. Other passengers are reportedly safe, albeit injured.

The aircraft was carrying 8 adult passengers and 1 infant. Eyewitnesses and passengers report that the pilot tried to land in a plain field after the plane faced technical problems, which is yet to be confirmed.

The aircraft involved is a P-750 XSTOL aircraft with extreme short takeoff and landing capabilities, designed just for rugged regions like Nepal. Registered as 9N-AJB in Nepal, the plane was built in New Zealand by Pacific Aerospace Ltd. in 2009.
