June 17, 2015 – Biratnagar
A Yeti Airlines flight bound for Kathmandu was hit by a bird while taking off from Biratnagar airport today. Aboard the Jetstream J41 aircraft were 27 passengers and crew members. Flight YT792 had just left the ground when the bird hit an engine.
The aircraft, registered 9N-AIH, continued climbing to a safe altitude after the bird strike and safely landed four minutes later. No human casualties or injuries were reported. As the bird was sucked into the engine, the plane could not fly back to Kathmandu. Another plane was sent from Kathmandu to bring the passengers.
