Buddha Air’s newest ATR72 lands in Kathmandu

Buddha Air’s newest aircraft: 9N-AMD. It was previously owned by Air Calédonie, a French airline serving domestic routes in New Caledonia.

Buddha Air’s latest addition – an ATR72-500 has arrived Kathmandu today. Registered 9N-AMD in Nepal, the ATR72 is fourth of its kind for the airline fleet.

The aircraft, previously belonging to Air Caledonie, took off from Rayong Pattaya U-Tapao International Airport, Thailand at 11:32 AM today and landed at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu on 4:19 PM Nepal time. Instructor pilot Mr. Pramod Thapa and Captain Sumit Singh Basnet flew the aircraft with technical Director Mr. Mangesh Thapa as the team leader, all the way from New Caledonia. The ATR 72-500 will begin commercial flights from March 1, 2017.

Buddha Air plans to add one more ATR72-500 this year. After the addition of two new ATR72-500s, the fleet size of the airline will reach 10 from existing 8.
